The members of Ventus Ensemble have known each other since they were children. They first came together as they joined the philharmonic harmony bands of Corfu setting off on a musical journey, which is still ongoing as the majority of them work side by side in Greece's most important orchestras.
They formed Ventus Quintet in summer 2005 with the aim of exploring and promoting the repertoire for wind quintet. As years went by, though, the need to expand their repertoire was growing and they decided to add a classical brass quintet, piano, percussion and even to use electronic media, when required forming thus, Ventus Ensemble in 2012.
Ventus Ensemble has performed in festivals such as the KOTH Underground Festival in Thessaloniki, the Corfu Festival of the Arts, the Athens and Epidaurus Festival and in venues around Greece. The ensemble's sphere of activity also includes education projects. The members of the ensemble handled the organization and artistic direction of the 12th and 13th International Summer Music Academy that has been taking place in Corfu Island every summer since 2003, in collaboration with the Music Department of the Ionian University and “Mantzaros Philharmonic Society”.
The varied Ventus Ensemble repertoire features most of the chamber music masterpieces composed for wind ensemble, calls for new works and arrangements by promising young composers and a large number of works composed by representatives of the National School of Music founded in Greece in the early 1900s.
In May 2016 Ventus Ensemble released their debut recording by Decca Classics. The album includes Circular Argument, a suite for brass ensemble composed by Alexandros Livitsanos.
